Course description
The NHS is recognised as the largest employer in Europe. The purpose of this apprenticeship qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health workforce. This qualification confirms competence in a range of clinical healthcare support skills. Healthcare support workers work as part of a team providing high quality and compassionate care to individuals. On completion of this apprenticeship, you will be a competent and job-ready Healthcare Support Worker. During the first part of this apprenticeship you will be supported to achieve the Care Certificate which forms part of your induction and covers the fundamental skills needed to provide quality care. Initial assessments for Maths and English and a written piece of work to determine if this level of study is appropriate.
You must be employed in a setting for the duration of the course. This is to show workplace competence and achieve End Point Assessment.
Training Course Content
You will carry out well-defined routine clinical duties like monitoring an individual’s conditions (by checking things like blood pressure, temperature or weight), checking on their overall progress, comfort and wellbeing. You will prepare individuals for healthcare activities carried out by other members of the healthcare team, looking after them before, during and/or after those activities in line with their care plan. You will be able to address straightforward problems in your day to day work, reporting concerns and changes to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
You will be able to work effectively as part of a team. You will always act within the limits of your competence, knowing who to ask for help and support if you are not sure.?

Course delivery details
You will need to achieve Level 1 English and Maths, and take the test for Level 2, prior to completing the Apprenticeship.
All units are assessed by an assessor using a range of methods, including direct observations in the workplace and written assignments.
You will need to complete 20% off-the-job training during the on-programme phase of the apprenticeship.
