Course description

This highly interactive in-person workshop will cover the most important recent changes to all aspects of employment law. It is a ‘must attend’ for the busy practitioner and HR professional, covering all the need to know cases and legislation.


The content will vary depending on what is topical but will include issues such as employment status, contracts of employment, unfair dismissal and redundancy, working time (the latest position on holiday pay, sick pay, rolled up pay, commission payments and on call payments), discrimination and the Equality Act 2010, equal pay claims, settlement agreements, whistleblowing, TUPE, what’s in the pipeline and the latest position on tribunal fees.

  • What are Labour’s plans for employment law - including the new Employment Law Rights Bill
  • Key changes to the Working Time Regulations, TUPE, and the Equality Act from January 2024
  • Employment status - the latest decisions on workers/employee/self-employed status and the gig economy
  • Contracts of employment
  • Unfair dismissal and redundancy - new laws protecting employees from redundancy for pregnancy, family leave, adoption leave and shared parental leave. The latest position on fire and rehire and plans for unfair dismissal rights from the first day of employment
  • Working time - latest position on overtime, holiday pay, sick pay, rolled up pay, commission payments and on call payments
  • Discrimination and the Equality Act 2010 and changes from January 2024
  • Family friendly rights including amendments to flexible working laws, changes to paternity leave , the Carer’s Leave Act 2023 and plans for parental rights from the first day of employment
