Course description

Modern Slavery

Many people think that slavery ended with abolition in the 19th century, but this is not the case. Modern slavery continues to affect our society and affects people all over the world. It is estimated that around 21 million people around the world are in slavery, including 5.5 million children*. Modern slavery in the UK is thriving, its estimated that up to 13,000 people are in modern slavery in the UK today. These are staggering figures which highlight the serious nature of the issue. This course will provide the learner with the information needed to identify the signs that someone has been enslaved, and what they should do about it.
