Course description
If you’re passionate about the countryside and looking for a career in the outdoors, our Level 2 Technical Certificate in Land and Wildlife is for you. Study on our 150-hectare campus at Writtle College.
As a student at Writtle College, you’ll learn about sustaining and protecting the natural environment for future generations.
You’ll be based on our rural campus that’s home to more than 200 animal species including reptiles, birds and mammals. You can work with these animals during your course.
We make full use of our outdoor learning spaces, and you’ll find hedgerows, grassland, rivers, woodland and farmland habitats to explore.
You don't need any previous knowledge or experience in land and wildlife to study this course.

Suitability - Who should attend?
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-3 or A*-D; must include English and Maths.
- Alternative qualifications or experience will be considered on application.

After successfully completing this course, you could further your education by studying a Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Land and Wildlife Management.
Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications can ultimately provide a route into employment in areas such as conservation, animal management or environmental management. You could find yourself working for employers such as country parks, wildlife trusts or charities.
