Course description
Develop your animal-handling skills and learn how to care for a range of species, with our Level 2 Technical Certificate in Animal Management at Writtle College.
This Level 2 course is ideal if you’re looking to work with animals and want to learn more about their care, handling and management.
As a student at Writtle College you’ll use our animal studies centre, with its aquatic, reptile and companion animal rooms. It’s part of our rural 150-hectare campus, which, as well as housing small animals, is home to horses and farm livestock.
You’ll also gain valuable experience with a work placement. While on placement, you’ll complete a portfolio of work that contributes toward your final grade.

Main
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-3 or A*-D, to include English and Maths
- Satisfactory references from most recent school, college or employer
Alternative qualifications or experience will be considered on application.

Assessment
We’ll assess your progress in a number of ways including practical assessments; a portfolio of evidence; one externally-set, externally-moderated assignment; one externally-set, externally-marked exam; and four externally-set and internally-marked assessments.
