As a student at Writtle College, you’ll delve into the artistry and craftsmanship of floristry, learning essential techniques and gaining hands-on experience in creating stunning floral arrangements.
You may have some previous floristry experience, or you may be starting from scratch. Either way, our experienced instructors will guide you through a comprehensive curriculum designed to nurture your skills.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You don’t need any specific qualifications or experience to apply for this course. However, good literacy and numeracy skills are a requirement. This includes the ability to read and interpret written tasks, write answers and complete documents in a legible and understandable form, and make calculations. While you’ll need to be able to organise written information clearly and coherently, you won’t be assessed for spelling or grammatical accuracy.

Careers and educational progression
If you achieve a Merit or Distinction in your Level 2 Certificate and you’d like to further your skills, you could progress to our Level 3 Certificate in Creative Craft (Floristry).

- Plan, Prepare and Construct Tied Floristry Designs (6 credits)
- Plan, Prepare and Construct Funeral Designs (10 credits)
- Plan, Prepare and Construct Floral Arrangements (10 credits)
- Plan, Prepare and Construct Wedding Designs with Floral Materials (12 credits)
- Display of Floristry Goods (6 credits)
- Introduction to Working in the Floristry Industry (8 credits)
Course delivery details
This Level 2 Certificate in Floristry has one mandatory unit and a minimum 20 credits from additional units selected by your tutor.
Units are subject to change and availability.
Assessment
We’ll assess your progress in a number of ways including practical demonstrations or assignments, and multiple choice tests.
You can achieve three possible grades for this course: Pass, Merit or Distinction.
To gain a Pass, you must show you can carry out activities to a satisfactory standard in the practical and underpinning knowledge tests.
To gain a Merit, you must show additional qualities, such as an ability to work with greater efficiency than those at Pass grade, and a capacity to monitor information and solve everyday operational problems with a certain amount of confidence.
To gain a Distinction, you must be able to show evidence of a greater level of understanding than those at Merit grade; monitor information and solve problems; analyse and evaluate information and generalise from basic principles; make judgements and simple recommendations concerning methods of improving existing practice.
