Course description
This course will enable delegates to prescribe, justify and interpret radiographs and will also include an update on IRMER radiography.
During this course you will learn how to diagnose and treatment plan within your competence, prescribe radiographs and take, process and interpret various film views used in general dental practice. This course will also include an update on radiography and radiation protection training as required by the GDC.
All participants must be fully radiography trained before attending this course.
Please note - Immediately after the course a certificate of attendance will be issued for 6 hours of CPD.
In order to gain a certificate of competence you will need to bring with you a letter of support from your supervising dentist/mentor stating they are happy to support you with the completion of a portfolio. Once you have completed the course you will need to submit evidence of:
A. Ten supervised radiographs (Logbook)
B. A radiographic report on two sets of bite wings.
C. Two peri-apicals radiographs (1 anterior and 1 posterior PA).
By attending this course the candidates will:
1. Receive an update on current guidelines in prescribing radiographs in general dental practice
2. Demonstrate (within their scope of practice)how to justify (prescribe) and quality assess the radiographs taken
3. Demonstrate (within their scope of practice) how to interpret and produce radiographic reports and undertake audits for quality of radiographs
