Course description
Gain the skills to teach or coach people – and have a lasting impact on their physical and mental wellbeing – with our BSc (Hons) Health and Physical Literacy at ARU Writtle.
If you’re interested in teaching, sports coaching or health coaching, this is the course for you.
It focuses on physical literacy, which encourages lifelong health and wellbeing through physical activity. As a student at ARU Writtle you’ll gain practical experience through work placements, and an appreciation of the holistic development of children and adolescents.
The built-in work-based learning modules, and additional vocational qualifications (UKSCA and Parkour Generations), are all designed to increase your employability when you graduate.

Assessment
We'll assess your progress in a number of ways including practical assessments – both in small groups and individually, practical portfolios, presentations, reflective logbooks, case studies, critiques of literature, written assessments, examinations – both multiple choice and essay questions, reports, peer and tutor observations, and your dissertation (Capstone Project).

Graduates of our BSc (Hons) Health and Physical Literacy degree have found employment in a number of fields, including sport coaching and health coaching.
The course can also prepare you for a career as a PE teacher (following postgraduate teacher training), physiotherapist, oroccupational therapist.
Graduation doesn't have to be the end of your time with us. You might decide to at ARU and study for a Masters, such as our MSc Sport, Exercise and Nutrition.
