Principles of Forensic Imaging

The Division of Radiography has created a new module to reflect the growing contribution of imaging to forensic medicine. The course is delivered in partnership with clinical and scientific experts working within forensic medicine to ensure it remains relevant.  The course is designed to support practitioners from a multidisciplinary field to develop the knowledge and understanding of forensic imaging and its contribution within forensic medicine. The course sits within the MSc in Medical Imaging programme, and upon successful completion of this module, students can continue their studies by registering for additional modules from the Medical Imaging module portfolio, including Musculoskeletal image interpretation and Chest and Abdomen Image interpretation.

This part-time course is designed to be studied over a four month period, commencing in February when the bulk of the formal contact will occur in a one week academic block. The course is designed to give students an understanding of the principles behind forensic imaging and the knowledge to explore the relationship between imaging and other forensic techniques. These theoretical modules may also be accessed by students who are not registered for the full MSc in Medical Imaging programme.  A feature of this course is to broaden the knowledge of practitioners in the techniques used in forensic imaging and the roles of other professionals within the scope of forensic medicine. The course team is committed to ensuring the module reflects current best practice and legal standards.
