Suitability - Who should attend?

The Beginners Welding is an introductory course that will teach you the foundation skills needed to start welding training. If you have little or no experience and would like to start at the beginning, equally, it is an excellent programme to develop the skills to support a hobby or side project that you may have. This course is for beginners only and so if you have experience in this process anintermediateoradvanced programmemay be more appropriate.

All candidates must have PPE, including welding gloves, hood, jacket and steel toe cap boots.

Training Course Content

This is predominantly a practical course delivered in our workshop. It includes all the underpinning knowledge of welding as a profession, as well as the Health & Safety requirements. Alongside the practical workshop sessions, you will be expected to do a small amount of reading and internet research to answer the assessment questions at the end of the course.

You will need to bring PPE i.e. steel toe cap boots and flame-retardant overalls. These can be borrowed from our shared facilities or purchased directly from our stockroom.

Continuing Studies

You can progress to another welding process at Level 1 (MMA, TIG or MIG) or you can progress to the Level 2 welding course.
