Course description
What will I learn?
If you’ve got a keen interest in the automotive industry and would love to learn about the maintenance of all different types of transportation, then this Level 1 Certificate could be a great place to begin your journey into this exciting industry. As you learn what it takes to become a motor vehicle technician, you will get the chance to develop your knowledge and skills across a variety of specialist areas, including engines, driveline and chassis components. You’ll complete sessions in both the classroom and the workshop, learning all about brakes, steering and suspensions systems, tyres, exhaust systems, health and safety practices, and how to remove and replace engine components. You will also work on your own personal social development too, understanding what it’s like to work in a garage and building an awareness of the different jobs roles and responsibilities in a dealership. As this Level 1 Certificate in Transport Maintenance is a vocationally related qualification (VRQ), it’s directly relevant to the automotive sector and is awarded by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
