Course description
This one-year course is for 16-19 year olds who want to learn and develop lots of practical skills associated with the repair of vehicle bodies. The course is ideal for learners who already have a Level 2 qualification, or can demonstrate significant experience in the refinishing of vehicle bodies. This is a full-time course of about 13 hours per week. Learners have the best opportunity to experience a wide variety of body repair activities, including Paint Refinishing. The programme involves panel preparation, mix and matching techniques, base coat application, top coats and rectification processes. At the end of the programme you will achieve a Vocationally Related Qualification in Body Repair at Level 3, along with one functional skill.
Assessments vary from practicals, online testing and oral questioning, to some assignment work. Support will be given to any learner if required. You will have three weeks of enrichment activities as part of your course. Activities may include trips to Blackpool, London, Baggeridge Country Park, Malvern or Dovedale, Coventry Motor Museum, plus mountain biking, go karting, ten pin bowling and ice skating. Successful completion of this course would enhance your employment potential within the automotive trade. The Advanced Apprenticeship programme is also an option.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You will attend a formal interview, followed by a college devised assessment. Learners who have previously passed a Level 2 Paint Refinishing programme will be given automatic entry to this programme. Keenness and enthusiasm for the automotive trade are essential.
