This course will benefit anyone who would like to acquire the necessary skills for making their own clothes. This course could enhance your job prospects or give you the basis to continue on to a full-time fashion course.
What will I learn?
You will learn the necessary skills to:
- Use a sewing machine and industrial steam iron
- Produce a range of samples of different sewing techniques
- Lay patterns on to the fabric and cut out correctly
- Identify a range of fabrics and their characteristics
- Build up a portfolio of different sewing techniques.

Suitability - Who should attend?
You must be a complete beginner to clothesmaking or a student who may have some sewing knowledge, who is looking to develop sewing techniques for a professional finish. You must be able to take notes.Reasonably good hand-eye coordination is also necessary. Please note: This course is not run as a workshop, and learners will be expected to follow the course programme and tutor set projects. Learners must attend regularly to ensure progress.
