Get a taste of fashion with this one-week course at The Cass, London Met's acclaimed art, architecture and design school, where you'll learn the basic principles of design and how to organise your ideas into a coherent piece of work.
If you are a beginner interested in fashion design, this one-week introductory course is for you. It will teach you how to embark on your own fashion design journey giving you an understanding of the basic principles of design and aesthetics, and taking you through the practical and analytical stages of the two-dimensional design process, including a taster of 3D creative experimentation.
You will learn how to get started on research, utilise sources of information and to develop opinions of what you see, therefore uncovering interesting aspects which will enable you to generate new and original ideas. You'll also gain an understanding of the design brief, introductory fabric awareness, how to organise visual research and communicate ideas through the creation of mood, colour, concept boards and design sketches, consolidated into a themed 2D mini collection.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is for beginners, or those new to the specific world of fashion design. The course is aimed at those who wish to learn the process designers undertake in order to design original outcomes, whilst developing their own creative signature.This course is ideal for those who would like to develop and supplement their skills prior to applying to a Higher Education course, or for those who wish to enhance and understand their employability.Whilst no previous experience is necessary, it is important that you have an interest in fashion.
