Operating or managing the use of a mobile elevated work platform has the potential to cause many serious incidents and have many consequences, such as falling from height injuries (i.e spinal injury, head injury, fracture). The most common types of fatal accidents in the workplace is falling from height.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This qualification is essential for any individual, at any level of the company, who is involved in using or managing equipment under IPAF 3A and 3B (3A (Scissor Lift / Mobile Vertical) 3B (Cherry Picker / Mobile Boom)
There are no pre-course requirements for this course.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
On successful completion of this course, delegates should be able to:
- Be aware of the relevant Health and Safety regulations.
- Be aware of accident prevention and control.
- Be aware of the needs regarding personnel protection.
- Be aware of the need to refer to the machine’s Operating Manual.
- Drive the MEWP safely and manoeuvre the machine as required, to correctly position and carry out the required tasks in a correct and proper manner.
Training Course Content
The IPAF 3A and 3B course consists of the following areas:
- Understanding the relevant Health and Safety regulations with Working at Height.
- PPE requirements and other Considerations
- Maneuver of a machine
- Equipment Requirements
- Moving and Positioning of a elevated work platform
- How to refer to machines' operating manuals
Course delivery details
The course is delivered by one of our fully qualified tutors, who use a variety of theoretical input, including group exercises, discussions, practical use of chosen equipment and interactive PowerPoint.
Examination: Attainment of the learning outcome for the qualification will be assessed by a multiple-choice examination under exam conditions. At the discretion of the Training Provider, the candidates shall be allowed to refer to any notes they make during the training sessions and the course notes or training manual provided by the Training Provider.
