Course description
Lithography (All Levels)
Lithography was invented 200 years ago by Senefelder as a means of printing his own manuscripts. He worked out that he could draw on Bavarian limestone and then, after careful processing of the stone, he could print the drawing. While most modern lithography uses metal plates, this course teaches students how to use the more traditional and perhaps superior method of stone lithography. Students will learn the process involved in drawing on the stones and printing from them. They will also learn the history of the art of lithography from Senefelder to the present day.
