Course description
With this online course you start to build the knowledge and skills needed to teach or train adults in a professional and confident manner. The ability to help people learn is valuable and rewarding, and it’s not just needed in formal education. Your role at work may include teaching colleagues or you may have particular experiences or abilities that you want to teach to others, perhaps at a sports club, voluntary or community group, training centre or college.
By successfully completing all the course assignments and the microteach, you will gain the Level 3 Award in Education and Training as recognition of your skills. This is an up-to-date award that replaces the Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (known as PTLLS).
Topics include:
Unit 1: Roles, responsibilities and relationships
Unit 2: Assessment in education and training
Unit 3: Inclusive teaching and learning
Unit 4: Planning and preparation
Additional information:
These 4 assignments form the assessment for the qualification. At the end of the course, for the final assignment, you put what you’ve learned into practice and do a short (15 minutes) teaching session to a group made up of other learners and your tutor.
You will create a portfolio of evidence using different formats including learning plans, observation, evaluation, and a microteach session or a practical observation by video.
