Course description
This innovative training programme provides a unique opportunity for HR professionals and people managers to increase the depth of their expertise in all key areas of HR, They will also be able to share knowledge and network with other delegates.
The programme is conducted over 12 months, as 12 half day sessions. It is delivered through small discussion groups and workshops, ensuring closer tuition to promote personalised, applied learning.
Each session is coordinated and managed by a highly experienced HR Consultant with current best practice knowledge gained from delivering practical HR consultancy to a range of clients. The trainer will act as a mentor to delegates over a 12 month period and monitor progress.

Training Course Content
This programme is delivered as outlined below:
Module 1 - Introduction & Understanding the Role of HR – introduction to the programme and expected learning, focus on the types of HR roles, the skills required to be a HR professional and how to develop them
Module 2 - Examining Recruitment and Selection - best practice in recruitment and selection, legal requirements and selection techniques
Module 3 - Navigating Contracts of Employment – understanding employment status, sources of contract terms and the variety and scope of contracts of employment
Module 4 - Examining Key HR Policies and Best Practice - examining all the key HR policies and best practice, including family friendly rights, flexible working and any upcoming employment legislation changes
Module 5 - Understanding Best Practice in Discipline & Grievance – Part 1 – understanding the legislation associated with discipline and grievance issues including conduct versus capability, reasons for dismissal, the ACAS code of practice, the necessary steps and unfair dismissal claims
Module 6 - Understanding Best Practice in Discipline & Grievance – Part 2 – following on from Module 5, handling discipline and grievance cases, understanding best practice including HR’s role in conducting investigations and hearings
Module 7 - Equality, Diversity & Inclusion – Best Practice & The Law -understanding the Equality Act, including the protected characteristics and the different types of discrimination, including identifying and managing complaints of discrimination and the difference between harassment, banter and bullying
Module 8 - Managing Absence Effectively - handling short and long-term absence and understanding absence trends including managing absence related capability dismissals
Module 9 - Learning and Development & GDPR – the role of HR in organisational learning and development and understanding GDPR including how HR should manage employment related data within an organisation
Module 10 - Understanding Employee Relations – the history of employee relations, the employer relationship with trade unions and employee representatives, statutory obligations impacting employee relations when dealing with redundancy and TUPE
Module 11 - Ending the Employment Relationship and the Role of the Employment Tribunal (ET) – understanding the ways in which an employment contract can end, including protected conversations, settlement agreements and the role of the ET
Module 12 - Embedding the Learning – course conclusion, group Q&A on programme content, workbook review, reflection on development and 121 sessions
