Course description
This course aims to provide students with knowledge and critical understanding of the concepts of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and SRH services and the key issues in International SRH, including those that arose at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo. It explores SRH in the contexts of human rights, equity, gender equality and health systems and policies, and discusses the link between SRH and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Upon successful completion of this programme, delegates will be able to:
- Formulate a strategic plan for a SRH programme
- Demonstrate a detailed and systematic knowledge and understanding of the concept of SRH and its components, identify key players and issues in international SRH and discuss the critical points in the plan of action of the ICPD
- Analyse critically how individual and collective human behaviour affect SRH and explain how behavioural theories are used to design behavioural change communication components of SRH programmes
- Analyse critically how national health policy and health systems influence whether or not key SRH issues are addressed
- Design and implement a needs assessment and M & E framework for SRH services
- Apply the rights-based approach in SRH programming
