This module can be undertaken as an individual module or altogether as a package on the EI’s learning management system, with recorded presentations and exercises taught by a leading expert in process safety and a former deputy director of the UK Health & Safety Executive.

Training Course Content

Key Points to cover:

Purpose: To ensure that priorities and strategies are established, championed and implemented and that sufficient resources are provided. To ensure that business decisions are made in the light of the implications for risk management and that stakeholders are informed and engaged on the performance of the business in relation to risk management. To ensure there is adequate and effective risk communication and visibility of senior managers is maintained to support and deliver a positive health and safety culture.

  • Senior managers need to understand the basic concepts of risk management in major hazards
  • Leaders should actively seek out information on risk management rather then waiting to be told

  • Leaders need to be open to learning from others and to share their own experience
  • Positive engagement in risk communication and understanding is essential to the creation of a positive health and safety culture
