Course description
The purpose of this course is to increase the awareness and knowledge of managers and team leaders on the topic of workplace bullying and harassment. The course is intended to ensure that the programme will help those accountable for managing and supervising others gain the confidence to challenge unacceptable employee behaviour. Delegates will learn how to 'manage out' unwanted behaviour establish and maintain clear standards of behaviour in order to create a positive working environment.

- Have a greater awareness and understanding of what constitutes bullying, its effects on the individual and the organisation, and the health and safety implications
- Increase their knowledge of the relevant legislation as it applies to bullying, and their management responsibilities within their organisations policy and code of practice
- Know how to handle bullying informally and formally
- Understand the impact of their own behaviour on others, and set standards of behaviour for their teams
- Develop personal and team action plans which will help create a positive work environment

- Defining bullying and harassment in the workplace - the difference between bullying and aggressive management
- Recognising bullying behaviour in yourself and others and the steps required to address these
- Creating a positive team and Organisational culture where bullying and harassment have no place
- The effects of bullying and harassment on the individual and the organisation
- The legal position – bullying, harassment and the law
- Tackling the problem - identifying roles and responsibilities of employees and management
- How to prevent bullying - communication skills, assertiveness, forms of denial, prejudice, dignity and tolerance, conflict management
- Dealing with concerns or complaints about bullying and harassment
- Organisational issues - participants share experiences and strategies to deal with bullying and harassing behaviours
Course delivery details
This course is ideally suited to enable participants to recognise symptoms of bullying and/or harassment in the early stages and deal with them promptly and effectively.
