Course description
Indicative Overview
Unlike the vast majority of marketing courses which offer a standardised menu of marketing theory, the MSc Marketing Practice at Birmingham City Business School reflects the times, challenges and opportunities of today’s marketer.
It addresses the impact of social media channels and the new opportunities for brand/consumer interaction, the importance of marketing in attempting to influence societal and political change, and the development of new products and markets encouraged by growing recognition of the need for sustainable business and consumption.
In a world of both new uncertainty and new opportunity, the course confronts the realities of the fragile environments in which businesses and products must exist, and the fragmentation of hitherto stable markets. In so doing, it provides not only a solid foundation of relevant marketing knowledge and theory, but also anticipates the future role of practical, innovative marketing.
Crucially, it allows you to breathe the air of the marketplace through live client collaboration at diploma and masters stages of the course, culminating in the opportunity to work with a client on a live marketing project in place of a conventional dissertation. The ‘live’ modules are supported by a state of the art workshop incorporating the latest marketing technology facilities.
Involvement with marketing professionals from a variety of private, public and non-profit organisations will enhance your learning experience, professional skills and employability, giving you the practical, real-world skills and knowledge to confidently take your place among today’s successful marketers.
