Ecology A Level Pathway
Designed to support progression onto an environmental related degree, this unique programme combines A Levels with significant hands-on experience.

Suitability - Who should attend?
If you meet the general entry requirements of five GCSEs grade 4 or higher we will be able to offer you a place on the programme. Confirmation of the three A Level subjects you study is dependent individual subject GCSE grades meeting each A Level subject entry requirement.
You will need an interest in making a difference to the future of the planet and the desire to get involved in practical projects that make a difference to your environment. You will need appropriate clothing for practical activities.
Training Course Content
What you'll learn
You will improve the wider skills vital for success in further study or employment including self-confidence, speaking in front of others, working with others, taking responsibility, and managing your time. By the end of your programme, you will have benefited from a valuable insight into the environmental or conservation careers open to you.
Along with your A Levels, you will have the opportunity to undertake an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), an independent project on a topic of your choice. Your EPQ will be a field study, part of an ecology, environmental or conservation project undertaken over your time at the college. EPQ's are valued by higher education institutions as they demonstrate your dedication to independent learning.

Continuing Studies
Every year, hundreds of our students go on to study higher-level programmes at almost 100 top universities across the UK and abroad. Recently this has included 18 of the world-class Russell Group's 24 universities, such as University of Oxford, Newcastle University and King's College, London.
With three A Levels the possibilities are endless. You can progress to higher education to study a variety of different subjects at degree level, for example Environmental Science, Earth Science, Wildlife Conservation, Ecology or Geography.
A Levels also offer a high standard of education which many employers require as part of their hiring criteria. Possible job roles in this sector include environmental protection manager, ecologist, conservation officer, sustainability consultant, water quality scientist, marine biologist and many more.
