Course description
Our courses have a strong vocational emphasis and will enable you to progress to other courses in creative arts or media.
You will benefit from subject-specialist teaching and excellent resources. The course is multi-disciplinary, with an emphasis on practical experimentation. Students are introduced to a range of technical processes that include:
- Photography
- Moving Image
- Animation
- Drawing
- Editing
- Research Skills
- Idea generation and creativity
All 16–19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade 4 in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

Applicants will be required to show some evidence of Art or Media work.
All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

You could progress onto a Level 2 programme in art and design, media, performing arts and more.
Training Course Content
You will learn about the wide range of jobs available within the sub sectors of art, craft, design and media.
You will also develop an understanding of the skills required to work in each sector.
This course is the UAL Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design and Media.
Course delivery details
You are encouraged to complete set tasks and develop your own personal style as your confidence in your selected discipline develops.
There are no external assessments for this qualification. You receive individual feedback and discussion about your work during each session. Assessment is ongoing and continuous as you proceed through the course and complete each of the three units required.
