Course description
Throughout this course, you will delve into a range of materials, processes, and techniques, making use of our Makerspace facilities to produce and develop your work.
You will explore 2D, 3D and time-based disciplines by working to briefs based on a variety of themes. You will look into art and design history, artist and designer research, and current world context to spark your imagination and influence your outcomes.
All 16–19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade 4 in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

Suitability - Who should attend?
We will need to see your latest school report and you must hold three GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths. You will also be required to show some evidence of art work.
All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Outcome / Qualification etc.
You could progress onto a Level 3 programme in art and design or media.
Training Course Content
This course will broaden your art and design skills and build confidence in working across specialisms such as fine art, graphic design, illustration, textiles and photography, with the aim of writing a project proposal for your final project, in a specialism of your interest.
You will gain knowledge that links to creative industry careers in preparation for employment or progression on to our Level 3 pathways.
This course is the UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Art and Design.
Course delivery details
You will work on a variety of different projects, delivered through a combination of practical project work, specialist workshops and lectures.
In addition, you will develop English and Maths and entrepreneurial skills through live projects and enterprise activities. You will also develop professional skills in presentation techniques.
You should take responsibility for a significant amount of self-directed study. This will allow you to build a portfolio of work suitable for progression on to a Level 3 course or employment.
You will be set practical assignments to complete that reflect professional practice. Emphasis is placed on working and learning with others. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.
Throughout the course, you will be required to complete additional tasks, including research, on your home study days.
