Introduction to Carpentry

This short intensive course is ideal for those of you who want some introductory carpentry skills. Those who complete the course will be provided with an Able Skills certificate, assured by City & Guilds. This is a great hands-on course covering a range of very useful carpentry skills and is also an ideal course for anyone who is contemplating undertaking a carpentry qualification.

This 5 day carpentry course has been recognised by City & Guilds as a comprehensive introduction to carpentry so upon successful completion of this courseyou will receive an Able Skills certificate assured by City & Guildsto confirm the skills that you will have learned.

During this 5 day Carpentry course you will learn how to

• Use hand tools such as chisels, planes etc.
• Cut basic joints
• Cut and fit architraves and skirtings
• Fit a Lock
• Fit a door into a lining/frame (Time permitting)

This course is designed to provide you with plenty of general carpentry knowledge to ensure that once you leave the training centre, you are confident to undertake the various tasks that you will have learned. The course is entirely hands-on from the moment that you start.

Able Skills has a fantastic carpentry training facility and we offer lots of different courses that can lead to a variety ofcarpentry and joineryqualifications. Equally, Able Skills are happy to cater for those of you who have a basic knowledge of carpentry but want something a little more suited to their needs, so something bespoke. If you call with your requirements, we will help if we can.

This course can act as a fantastic introductory to carpentry and following on from this; it may be that you want to gain carpentry qualifications. If that is the case, you may be able to upgrade to any of the longer programmes of carpentry that we teach. To help you, we will deduct from any course, the time spent on this course and we will also deduct the fees paid for this course.

All tools and materials are provided throughout the course, you will just need to ensure that you have suitable clothing and protective footwear (mandatory).

All of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.

The cost for this certificated Introduction to Carpentry course is £475.00 including VAT. A £150.00 deposit will secure a booking and the balance can be paid on the start date.
