Course description
Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems has for many years been known as Unvented or G3 certification however the new Approved Document to Part G of the Building Regulations now applies to ALL domestic hot water storage systems. This course is for installers who wish to install Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems and join a Competent Persons Scheme which will allow the self-certification of installations. Able Skills Hot Water Systems and Safety (HWSS) training course provides operatives with a certificate of competence in accordance with G3 Building Regulations.
This course covers all hot water systems.
The HWSS course is recognised by Competent Person Schemes (CPS) approved to offer self-certification under Approved Document G
What Youll LearnThe course covers both vented and unvented hot water systems training, covering the following topics:
- Installation and safety
- Regulations, standards and guidelines
- Theory of hot water expansion
- Principles of hot water storage
- Design considerations
- Components and function
- Safety controls, discharge and integration
- Maintenance and servicing
Upon successful course completion, candidates will be issued with a HWSS certificate of competence from LCL Awards.
How Youll LearnThis training course covers all the theory and legislation required to be deemed competent, the course has both a theory and a practical element. Both must be completed successfully to generate certification. The comprehensive Approved Document G, candidate workbook and Hot Water Systems and Safety course manual is supplied as part of the Water Regulations course and will be posted to you ahead of the course start date this must be read ahead of attending the course.
Additional InfoThe pre-requisite for attending the course is that a WRAS certificate is held; if you do not hold this certificate, a course to obtain this can be booked here. There is also a requirement that individuals undertaking this course hold a recognised trade qualification so for those in the plumbing field, an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification OR experience is required. Re-assessment is required every 5 years.
LocationAll of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.
