Course description
If you have been working full time as a plumber for over 3 years but do not hold any qualifications and now find yourself needing an NVQ, this fast-track assessment process may be exactly what you are looking for. Please be aware, we will require you to provide evidence of your working history before enrolling you on to this programme A comprehensive CV will be required along with a letter of reference from your current employer (where available).
What Youll LearnThis package will give you the opportunity to achieve a level 2 plumbing diploma followed by work based assessments to achieve the plumbing NVQ at level 2. The units from the level 2 Diploma will map directly to the NVQ which is why it is essential that the Diploma is achieved first.
How You'll LearnAble Skills has developed this package of learning to assist experienced workers currently working in the plumbing industry to achieve:
- C&G 6035-02 Diploma
- C&G 6189 NVQ.
C&G 6035 qualification is unit structured with:
- Practical Units:These are achieved by a mix of knowledge and practical activities in simulated conditions within the centre.
- Knowledge Units:These units are assessed by multi-choice tests / assignments undertaken in the training centre.
You will be allocated 10 days in centre to achieve the above however, prior to attending the centre, we will provide you with a Home Study pack to support your learning for the knowledge units of this qualification.
C&G 6189 NVQ is work based assessment
Once the C&G 6035 level 2 Diploma is complete, we will then provide you with a profiling session with a Plumbing Assessor so that you fully understand what the requirements of the NVQ are. You will be provided with a portfolio and when you are ready, you then make contact with your Assessor to arrange your work based assessments.
Examples of the work that you will need to have access to:
Your Assessor will need to witness:
- 1 bathroom (cold/hot)
- Another bathroom (sanitation) or a heating job
- Decommission 1 system
You will also separately need additional evidence (photos and portfolio completion) of:
- 1 bathroom (cold/hot)
- Another bathroom (sanitation) or a heating job
- Decommission another system
- 6 maintenance jobs
The length of time taken to achieve the NVQ aspect is entirely down to you and your access to the relevant aspects of work. Your registration for the NVQ level 2 is allocated at 3 years although you should look to complete it in a much shorter timescale
