How To Become A Qualified Plumber and Gas Engineer

What Youll LearnYou will learn the skills required to become aPlumber and receive training to start your journey towards becoming a Gas Engineer.This package is suited to those of you who know a Gas Safe registered Engineer who would be prepared to take you under their wing to enable you to complete the mandatory portfolio of competence.
The Plumbing aspectsThis is an industry accredited Plumbing qualification and you will learn about the various requirements of domestic plumbing. Topics of learning range from health and safety, electrical principles and processes, scientific principles, common plumbing processes, cold water systems, domestic hot water systems, sanitation, central heating systems and drainage systems.
The Gas aspectsThis 5 week long Gas course is essential training and assessment to gain access to the Gas Industry. Gas training is a mandatory part of becoming Gas Safe registered.
This training programme will provide you with a great insight into the Gas industry and present you with an understanding of the guidelines and regulations which currently govern the ACS scheme.
During this period of gas training, we will cover basic heating systems and heating controls, gas appliance functions and basic principles of flues and combustion to give candidates the knowledge required to move forward to the next aspect of this Gas course.
In addition, we will cover:
- Legislation
- Tightness Testing
- Pipework requirements
As you progress through the weeks, the gas course will develop and you will receive training in:
- Gas safety controls
- Pipe sizing
- Gas rates / Heat inputs
- Flueing
- Appliance installation and servicing
- Ventilation
- Unsafe situations
In addition you will undertake written exams and practical assessments.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be provided with a Bpec Foundation Portfolio and guidance for completion.
How Youll LearnBoth the Plumbing and Gas courses are a mixture of practical and classroom based tuition and progress is monitored by way of multiple choice exams and theory/practical assessments.
Courses Open To You AfterFollowing on from this package, you may wish to consider adding on courses likeWater Regulations,Energy Efficiency orUnvented Hot Water Systems. If you are looking to achieve anNVQ in Plumbing, this is also available at Able Skills.
Additional InfoTo help your success on the plumbing course, we will provide you with alevel 2 Plumbing reference book.To assist you throughout the gas training process, we will provide you with acomprehensive training manual and also a gas portfolio at the end.The next stage for you is to then get this portfolio completed by working under supervision of a Gas Safe registered Engineer and once this is done, you will then be in a position to book your ACS (gas exams). If you cannot source a placement, you may wish to consider ourPlumbing Training Packageas this includes all of the stages that you are required to go through to achieve Gas Safe registration.
Both the level 2 Plumbing and the Gas training aspects of this package are available Full Time, Part Time at Weekends (on a 2 weekend on and 2 weekend off basis) and the Plumbing aspect is also available as a Home Study option whereby you can attend in pre-designated separate weekly blocks over a longer period of time.
All courses can be booked with small deposits and any balance can be spread over the period of the training Interest Free!.
LocationAll of our courses take place at our dedicated training centre in Dartford, Kent. The centre is easily accessible by road, being just 10 minutes from junction 1a on the M25. We are only a short walk from Dartford train station which is served by frequent trains taking 35 minutes from central London. For anyone travelling from further away, we have our own accommodation available at only £25 per night.

Duration & CostThis package to become a Plumber and a Gas Engineer: £4990.00
Full Time Option:6 weeks for level 2 plumbing and 5 weeks for gas training.
A £1000 deposit (£500 towards the plumbing and £500 towards the gas) will secure a booking and the balance can be paid in instalments.
Part Time Option:15 weekends (over 30 weeks) for level 2 plumbing and 13 weekends (over 26 weeks) for gas training.
