This 5-day conference on International Arbitration in the oil, gas and minerals industry is intended to be of interest to lawyers and non-lawyers alike. The conference will provide perspectives from legal experts, trial and in-house counsel, international arbitrators, and academics.
The conference is structured to include presentations by some of the leading practitioners in the industry (including a number of guest speakers throughout the event), as well as offering a number of practical training sessions on written and oral advocacy skills in the conduct of international arbitrations, culminating in the preparation and conduct of a mock arbitration, where delegates will have the opportunity to learn by doing!
Topics include a presentation from the CEO and Registrar of SIAC, discussion of the International Arbitral Framework, and Managing and Preparing for the Commencement of an International Arbitration, including comparative analysis and discussion of the different arbitration laws and rules from around the world e.g. discussions regarding the English Arbitration Act 1996, the Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010, and the SIAC, ICC, LCIA, and Scottish Arbitration Rules etc. There will also be presentations on Preparing and Filing an International Arbitration, Selection and Appointment of Arbitrators & Mediators, Interim Measures, Damages in International Arbitration, and the Enforcement of International Arbitration Awards.
