Course description
This is a six month, degree level course which will train you in writing for the media. The course introduces you to key practical media production skills; including interviewing and reporting, basic writing, the nature of narrative production and the function of media texts in a national context. It also explores the ways in which these materials are defined and created.?
The course is designed to build a strong skills-based foundation on which to develop your career. As a professional, you will need to operate in a global digital community across multi-platforms. It will help you develop your skills and knowledge, and build your professional and career opportunities.
You will learn how to approach a piece of writing critically and will be given a selection of techniques for tackling the problems you may uncover, beginning with questions of structure and storytelling and moving on to the core tasks of detailed copy editing.
This is not just an introduction. It will train you to think about writing, give you a toolkit for enhancing and focusing your own writing, and build a strong foundation of skills on which to develop your career.
