Course description
Inject new life into your mid-century furniture with the beautiful designs of the 60’s. You will gain practical skills in restoring furniture from structural repairs or replacements all the way to refinishing in the correct oil. Discover the famous names and designers who made unique pieces during this interesting period in furniture design.
Students will provide themselves with two projects in order to have an alternative project to work on while one is drying or clamped and also to increase their learning potential.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
show skills in the selection of tools to be used in the correct fashion, safely and maintain their effective uses
identify timber, convert to size, realizing the differences
have an understanding of a wide range of methods used to secure joints
select the appropriate glues
identify the different finishes used and be able to show skills in applying them
