Level 5 Coaching & Mentoring
The Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring focuses on providing you with new coaching and mentoring skills.
This will enable you to prepare to implement a coaching culture as a management style within your organisation as well as provide you with a formal qualification for your personal practice.
You and your fellow course students will have access to an online learning system including electronic course media and a virtual community to share your thoughts and experiences.

Suitability - Who should attend?
This is ideal if you are a manager with significant responsibility for coaching and mentoring as part of your day-to-day role. It will also support you if you are planning to move into a development role in your organisation or start a career as a freelance coach and mentor.
Outcome / Qualification etc.
Following your completion of all the course days and a minimum of a Pass in all the assignments you’ll receive your ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring at an awards ceremony to recognise the effort and success you’ve achieved.

Training Course Content
There are three mandatory units;
- ‘Understanding the skills, principles and practice of effective management coaching and mentoring’ aims to enable learners to understand the role and contribution of coaching and mentoring, and build a business case.
- ‘Reviewing own ability as a management coach or mentor’ aims to give learners the ability to critically review their own personal qualities, skills and competence.
- The third unit requires learners to demonstrate their ability to plan, deliver and review at least 12 hours of coaching and mentoring in the workplace.
This course is delivered over five classroom style sessions supported by three written assignments.
Course modules including practical training and reflection;
- Understanding the Context of Coaching and Mentoring in the Business Environment
- Learn to recognise your own and others’ Values, Beliefs & Ethics
- Ensure formal Contracting is employed in 1:1 coaching & mentoring
- Undertaking Coaching or Mentoring at an organisational level
- Learn new Processes, Models and Techniques
- Recognise the benefit of Supervision & Coaching Best Practice
- Reflecting on Your own ability to Perform Effectively as a Coach or Mentor
Continuing Studies
The Level 5 certificate follows a similar academic approach to a Graduate / Degree qualification. With the ILM as the academic authority this course is recognised nationally and even world wide.

The Level 5 Certificate is for managers aspiring for promotion and / or launching into a professional Coaching and Mentoring Career. Its strong academic foundation along with 12 hours of practice prepares the ambitious mind to deliver best practice.
