About
St Mary's University, Centre for Short Courses & CPD
St Mary’s University is well known for being one of the top places to study higher education in London – but did you know they offer short courses? You don’t have to spend three years at this prestigious institution to come away with a qualification, in fact you can study everything from first aid to sports massage as part time, evening and weekend courses. With high average pass marks and a huge selection to choose from, St Mary’s is clearly a great choice of place to take a course, whether you’re looking for a career change or simply hoping to discover a new hobby.
Welcome to Short Courses and CPD. We are based in Twickenham, West London and our courses are offered over the weekend, whilst others are taught in the evening or during the day, to accommodate all types of lifestyles.
Our most popular courses are our body and sports massage qualifications. During the last academic year the average pass mark for the L4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy was 81%; the L3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy has an average pass mark of 80% and the L3 Diploma in Body Massage has an average pass mark of 78%. 85% of our students rated their tutor as “excellent”.
Location
St Mary’s location is hard to beat and transport routes are excellent. We are situated in the leafy borough of Richmond upon Thames just a few minutes away from the river. Teddington, Twickenham and Strawberry Hill main line stations are all within walking distance. The District Line tube to Richmond is just a short bus ride away. We are only 30 minutes away from central London.
Student story
Following winning Britain's first Winter Paralympic gold medal in Sochi 2014, Kelly Gallagher MBE, the Northern Irish alpine ski racer, has turned her attention to Sports Massage at St Mary’s University.
Taking 3-weeks out of training in Austria this summer, Kelly completed the Intensive Sports Massage course.
“I usually spend my time training and resting. The intensive course has required a different type of discipline, rather than focusing upon my fitness I have had the opportunity to learn a new skill and refine my knowledge, studying advanced sports massage techniques and skills.”
How to enrol
Student can enrol and make payment online. You will see course details including start date and course fees. Most courses require a £50 deposit and then if the course costs over £500, you can pay the balance in three instalments.
