Course description
The HSE-approved Emergency First Aid at Work – 1 Day course is designed for you if you seek to be a qualified first aider, who is able to take charge of an emergency situation should the need arise.
Content
Whilst enrolled upon the course you will learn basic lifesaving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations, which includes the following topics:
- The role of the first aider
- Fainting
- Managing an emergency
- Health and safety (first aid) regulations
- Communication and casualty care
- Resuscitation (adult CPR)
- Bleeding (minor and severe)
- Seizures (adult)
- Burns
- Shock
- Choking (adult)
- Unconscious casualty
The course is assessed via
Continuous observations made by the trainer.
Award
Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, which is valid for three years.

Suitability - Who should attend?
To enrol on this course you must be 18-years or over. It is recommended that learners should have achieved a level of education equivalent to five GCSEs at grades A*-C however exemptions may be made for adult returners with relevant experience.
