Course description
The always ‘on’ nature of work means that individuals need a set of skills to help them to flourish even when the pressure is unrelenting. With an understanding of good and bad stress combined with the general principles of building resilience we can change the conversation and the outcomes.
There is often a vicious circle of reinforcing circumstances. For example, if individuals or a team are unable to deliver effectively then inevitably there is duplication, re-work and extra work. This naturally adds to the pressure on individuals, possibly a sense of fatigue and results in a reduction in personal resilience. And so the cycle continues. On the other hand, if an individual and team are working collaboratively and effectively together and looking out for each other, this can reduce the sense of overwhelm and ensures resilience remains high.
Unlike other courses on stress and resilience we do not view these issues simply resting with the individual. Instead, we acknowledge the position of the individual within a team and organization and beyond. Individuals alone can do a lot to manage their situation, but mostly resilience derives from the multiple contextual issues.
For those who are leaders of teams or projects, it’s important that you demonstrate resiliency for your colleagues at work. Someone with resilient leadership is someone who demonstrates the ability to see failures as minor setbacks, with the tenacity to bounce back quickly. In difficult times, people are looking to you to remain positive and look for new opportunities.
If you practice resilient leadership, you’ll understand stress in a way that will help others maintain the emotional strength they need to move forward and overcome setbacks.
Our philosophy is that attention to core simple leadership skills generates quick positive outcomes, generating the sense of growth and positive change which both builds resilience and alters the circumstances at the same time. We address this through guiding participants to determine their own small steps to put in place immediately through using the innovative research-led approach designed by Coaching On the Go through their COTG Skills Report.
Uniquely the COTG Skills Report also provides insight into the organisation taking account of psychological safety, toxic leadership, transformational leadership and organisational resilience.
