Course description
This online course introduces the underlying physical infrastructure of a telecommunications system and the commercial, standardisation and regulatory aspects of telecoms provision.
This course is designed for managers who require an appreciation of those aspects of telecommunications provision that are unique to the sector.
The course is especially suitable for those joining the telecoms industry.
This course begins by describing and comparing the roles and structure of core, metro and access networks. Capacity and coverage aspects of mobile radio access networks are also discussed. The ways in which service providers can share the infrastructure of access networks to reduce costs and meet regulatory requirements are also compared. The need for, and bodies involved in, technical standardisation are discussed. The regulation and licensing of telecoms services is discussed as are commercial aspects of telecoms service provision. The commercial and technical aspects of interconnecting networks belonging to different operators are also explained.
At the end of the course you can print out a certificate of achievement or, at extra cost, have a signed copy of the certificate posted to you by PTT.
