Introduction
Whether it is a conscious uncoupling or something more adversarial, the breakdown of a relationship has many important tax consequences.
The recent changes to Principal Private Residence Relief from April 2020, as well as the Finance Act 2023 changes on transfers of property, have made this area even more complex.
Presented by expert speaker Jeremy Mindell, this seminar will explore the issues in a chronological order from separation to divorce and then post-divorce transactions.
Tax plays an important part in this most sensitive of areas and quite often the tax considerations need to be factored into the negotiations between the parties. The value of any settlement will change drastically between those transfers which end up with no tax and those which attract a large tax liability.
Consideration will be given to recent cases and what can be learnt from them. Delegates will also be encouraged to exchange experiences in practice.
