Course description
This Level 1 introductory course to the oil spill crisis is designed to brief the first responders of an oil spill on the hazards of dealing with oil spills in the marine and coastal environments.
The onset of an oil spill poses significant threats to marine ecosystems, local economies, and the safety of personnel involved in containment and recovery operations. Responding effectively to such incidents requires not only a firm grasp of best practices but also a strategic understanding of the environmental, operational, and safety challenges that may arise.
Our training course is crafted to bridge the knowledge gap, providing a robust introduction to the complexities of oil spill crisis management. Participants will gain insight into the latest international contingency planning frameworks and learn about the physical and chemical properties of oil that influence spill response tactics. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to blend theoretical knowledge with practical applications, ensuring that trainees are well-prepared to take decisive action when faced with real-world spill scenarios.
