BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (90 Credit) Aeronautical Pathway

The BTEC Level 390 Credit Diploma is one year stand alone, full time Engineering course. It provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in the design, development and maintenance of aircraft/aviation products and systems. The course is both practical, and work related and follows a pathway developed by BTEC. Learning is achieved through the completion of projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course will require elements of home study and some assessments will take the form of tests. The course is suitable for school leavers and young adults.

Year 1: BTEC L3390Credit Diploma (equivalent to 3 AS-Levels), Course content includes:

• Health & Safety
• Mechanical Principles
• Mathematics for Technicians
• Business Operations in Engineering
• Theory of Flight
• Fabrication Processes
• Electrical Technology
• Aircraft Maintenance Practices
• Computer Aided Design (CAD)

The units are subject to review and might differ from those listed above.

To progress onto the Extended Diploma, each student must achieve both a good result and a good reference from the course team as well as having excellent attendance and punctuality. Each learner is also expected to have completed 5 days of work experience during the year. If these conditions are not met, this might result in the student not being able to continue to the Extended Diploma course.
