Course description
The Level 3 Certificate in Sport and Exercise Science is aimed at learners who are currently on the Men's Football Academy. The natural progression if the student does not progress into the football industry is onto the year 2 Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science Programme. (This course ensures whilst members of Staines Town Football Club train to become a semi-professional footballer, they keep in touch with education in case of injury or an unsuccessful football career). Recent students have secured contracts with professional clubs such as Huddersfield Town, QPR and Charlton AFC. (Check out the news tab for success stories).
The Level 3 Certificate is a one year course. The course deals with the scientific themes and concepts of sport and exercise science and aims to provide studies in sport which are directly related to the changing needs of employers in specific areas of the sport science industry. Modules studied include: Anatomy for Football; Sport and Exercise Physiology (football related); Sport and Exercise Psychology (football related).
On completion students progress to semi-professional football contract; Higher Education courses, such as HNC in Sport & Exercise Science, Sports Coaching or Health and Fitness.

Suitability - Who should attend?
Students need to have: four GCSEs at grade C or above which must include English and Mathematics; Level 2 Extended Certificate/Diploma in Sport - Merit grade; Successful interview and satisfactory reference.
