Course description
GCSE Biology gives students a comprehensive understanding of the study of living organisms. It is an ideal preparation for A-Level Biology or a Level 3 Science course. It is often studied in combination with GCSE Chemistry and GCSE Physics. This is the linear 9-1 GCSE qualification. A linear qualification means that students must sit all their exams at the end of the course in June. The qualification can be taken at either Foundation Tier or Higher Tier. The lessons will involve a mixture of classroom based lectures and practical lessons in our specialist science laboratories. Students will study the following topics: Cell Biology, Organisation, Infection and response, Bioenergetics, Homeostasis and response, Inheritance, variation and evolution, Ecology and Key ideas. On completion students progress to A-Level Biology or a Level 3 vocational qualification in science.
