About This Course
The IMCA Approved Diver Medic Technician Course provides participants with the skills, knowledge and the confidence to administer the Life Support techniques learnt during the training effectively and safely. Attendees will be taught how to assess the casualty promptly and provide resuscitative measures with up to date emergency first aid equipment. This course will provide the attendees with IMCA approved DMT certification that is recognised internationally by the industry.

Suitability - Who should attend?
To train commercial divers to be certified IMCA Diver Medics. It is a known requirement by IMCA to have one member of a dive team who is not diving, other than the supervisor, trained in advance first aid - generally referred to as a 'diver medic'.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The Diver Medic must be fit to enter a chamber in an emergency and must hold a valid diver's certificate of medical fitness and maintain a personal logbook in which to keep the certificate and record details of any entry into the compression chamber.
Anyone can attend the course, irrespective of their background and qualifications. However, only IMCA-Recognised certificates shall be issued to students who meet the following criteria:
- The student must hold an offshore qualification in diving. This can be an LSS, LST, Diving Supervisor, or Diver qualification recognised by IMCA (which is at an offshore grade)
- The student must hold a valid diving medical as suitable to go under pressure in a chamber. Sports diving are not acceptable. Certificates for those not meeting the above criteria will not refer to IMCA in any way.
Validity:
Note: With effect from 1st July 2013, IMCA Diver Medic Technician / Refresher training will be valid for only two years instead of the three years. Outcome / Qualification etc.
At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Perform Basic Advanced Cardiac & Trauma Life Support.
- Understand the Medical, Legal & Ethical aspects of a DMT.
- Correct handling & assessing of patients with diving related injuries in a Hyperbaric Chamber.

Diver Medic continuous personal development mobile application (app) is developed with the aim to help Diver Medic Technicians (DMTs) to maintain their competence. Ability to download the modules offline so as to learn anywhere at your own time and pace.
Sign up and complete the content each year, should you return back to KBAT for your IMCA Diver Medic Technician Refresher training, we will offset the amount that you have paid for the APP against your refresher course fee. This is to support individuals who are motivated to stay current on life saving skills by using the APP and saving costs on their Diver Medic Refresher training course.
