Course description

Our Environmental Awareness E-Leaning course was developed from an industry-led initiative and will provide participants accessible and standardised training across offshore platforms. This module will provide offshore workers with an overview of accidental releases and different control measures that can be implemented for good practice and risk mitigation.

Suitability - Who should attend?

This course is aimed at building awareness of environmental issues. It is intended for those who are responsible for operations within the offshore oil and gas industries e.g. senior managers, managers, supervisors, and operators – as well as those seeking an introduction to environmental awareness, but have little-to-no prior knowledge of the subject.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of this module you will have an understanding of:

  • The potential sources of accidental releases from offshore installations and the operational activities which may initiate them.
  • The short and long-term impacts on the receiving marine environment and the escalating effects of pollution incidents to the organisations involved
  • The legislation in place to manage and prevent accidental releases to sea, regulator notification requirements and preparedness measures necessary to mitigate the impacts of incidents.
  • The types of control measures available to prevent accidental releases and to mitigate their effects should a pollution incident occur.
