Course description
The Level 3 course will cover a variety of professional skills. You will practice drawing from observation, learn to use professional mark-making and shading techniques, study the use of colours in design, and learn digital skills with creative software and applications. Students will also explore printing & painting techniques, fabric printing techniques, pattern making the construction of 3D forms using traditional and unusual materials, including fashion fabrics.
As part of the course, teachers will help you prepare a successful portfolio for your interview, and help you to manage your UCAS application process, so that you can enter a wide range of relevant degree courses. You will learn the skills that universities really value and put you in a position to compete for the best degree places successfully.
4 x GCSEs grade 9-4 (grade A- C) including an art/design subject, or a Level 2 qualification in an art-related subject at merit/distinction grade, together with (ideally) GCSE English and maths at grade 9-4 (grade A- C). Your GCSE Art coursework, or work from your Level 2 course, will be looked at during the interview.
