Course description
The aim of the course is to give staff members an introduction to the issues around stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination, to identify the basic rights that all people should enjoy and the shared values people have, and to examine the responsibility that each person and organisation has in ensuring that barriers to participation in society are removed.
The course has the following units:
Unit 1: Equality and diversity in the society (6 credits)
Unit 2: Equality and diversity in the community (6 credits)
Unit 3: Equality and diversity in the workplace (6 credits)
The objectives of the material are to help learners to raise their awareness of the issues surrounding equality and diversity and demonstrate this awareness through their actions in the workplace.
This RQF qualification is suitable for learners aged pre-16 and above. This qualification is suitable for both young and adult learners, including those in or seeking employment. It is also ideal for those who need to develop an awareness of issues surrounding equality and diversity, for example as part of an induction programme or personal development. It is made up of 3 units.
This course is designed to complement practical work, giving you the theoretical knowledge you need. You will look at the various laws (legislation) which affect equality and diversity, and how your workplace has to take account of them.
