Course description
The Biology A Level Course will cover the study of life: its organisms, its molecular basis, its origins and the ecosystems that it inhabits.
Interesting in its own right, it also deals with topics of pressing human concern such as disease, habitat destruction and genetic engineering. This course brings you right to the cutting edge of this exciting and rapidly developing discipline.
The course is designed for full Edexcel A Level 9BIO specification and a separate course is available for AS Level should students prefer that option.
The course is divided into the following units:
- Unit 1: Molecules, Cells and Reproduction
- Unit 2: Exchange, Transport and Diversity
- Unit 3: Energy, Pathogens and Genetics
Each lesson begins with a set of clearly stated objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study. Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self- assessment questions. There are twenty one Tutor-Marked Assignments (known as TMAs). On completion of their study students would arrange examinations with a local exam centre as a private candidate.
