- Basic electrical theory: volts, amps, watts and kilowatt-hours
- Measuring electricity; earthing, bonding and lightning protection
- Alternating current and direct current; transformers
- Single-phase and three-phase electricity; electrical distribution and switchgear
- Single-line diagrams; cables, busbars and cable management
- Circuit protection: Fuses and circuit breakers
- Light sources and lighting levels; lighting controls
- Emergency lighting; fire alarm systems; structured IT cabling
- Photovoltaics; uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
- Power quality; regulations and standards
