Course description
Overview
This course will give you an oversight concerning penalty points, disqualifications from driving, arguments for avoiding disqualification under the totting up provisions – special reasons arguments for not being disqualified at all or not having any penalty points imposed – it will also consider the law in relation to driving, attempting to drive or being in charge – alcohol and drugs.
Who is this for?
You may be a prosecutor, you may be a defence lawyer (Solicitor or Counsel), you may be a legal adviser to Magistrates’, you may be a trainee – this course will be of benefit to anyone involved in advising in the area of road traffic law – whatever your level of expertise.
What will you learn?
After completion of the course you will be in a much better position to advise clients in the office or at the police station or Court (be it a Magistrates’ Court or Crown Court) in relation to road traffic matters.
How does this help your career?
It will assist you enormously if you are a trainee/Solicitor/Counsel wanting to progress in your career in that it will hugely increase your knowledge and, with it, your confidence to deal with clients in this area.

This course may be taken as a PSC elective, although it may also be attended by non-trainees.
