ESOL - Entry 2 Speaking & Listening
- To improve your language skills by identifying areas for development
- To learn about life in the UK
- To enable you to speak, read and write and in English at a level necessary to function and progress at work and in society in general
- To develop the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing following the National Adult Literacy Core Curriculum

Suitability - Who should attend?
This course is for adult (19+) speakers whose home language is not English and who need to develop their English language skills in order to live and work in the United Kingdom. For students on JSA, ESA (WRAG) or other eligible income-based benefits, and who are studying to improve skills to help them gain employment, these courses are free. Training Course Content
By the end of the course you will have a greater understanding of living in the UK.
You will be able to:
- Speak clearly to be heard and understood in straightforward exchanges
- Make requests and ask questions to obtain information
- Understand the most important parts of and participate in a discussion
- Listen to and follow short, straightforward explanations and instructions
- Use letter sounds and words shapes to work out what words say
- Read and understand words related to personal information and frequently used words
- Recognise the different purposes of texts
- Identify the main points in a text
- Use grammar and punctuation to help make your writing clear
- Use spelling methods to learn how to spell common words
- Write a range of simple texts using present and past tense
- Complete everyday forms
